Article 1: Make Use of What Is Given Now

Geographic advantage, the currents of the times, your circumstances. Use what is in your hands right now to the fullest. Do not try to become strong in spite of your weakness; turn the weakness itself into strength. We already have more than enough. In truth, very little is missing. That is exactly why a good future can only be born from here. Do not neglect your preparation.

Article 2: Shoulder the Duty to Receive

If giving is a duty, then receiving is a duty too. No one has the right to stop the cycle. What you put out comes back to you in another form, just as rain does not fall from the ground. This is the law of nature. But ulterior motives are always seen through.

Article 3: Curiosity Does Not Err

Above all, have good taste. Taste cannot be honed overnight. But curiosity alone does not go wrong so easily. The genuine and the fake, the right and the not right. Keep touching both the good and the bad, and in time their outlines will rise up on their own.

Article 4: The Principle of the Front Line

A front is the boundary surface where the future (hypotheses) and reality (constraints) collide, mix, and are renewed. The very front line is the single point within that surface where a decision occurs. Possibility exists only at the front. With the future alone, or with reality alone, the options quickly become fixed. Collision gives rise to other solutions and becomes the ground of creation.

Article 5: Creation Without Verification Is Delusion

There are answers. Whether something is an answer is not subjective. It can be tested against reality. Seek the answer. Seek the truth. If you cannot find it, set up a provisional answer and build. But always check your answer. Do not run away without verifying. Creation that never checks its answers is mere self-indulgence.

Article 6: Be a Good Friend at Their Side (Rin'yū)

What guides us is always friends, not a network. Do not try to use people; do not consume people. People are not things. No one is so foolish as to fail to notice when a relationship is being used as a tool. And life is not long enough to spend with people you would not want as friends.

Article 7: Furyū Monji, the Zen Teaching That Truth Is Not Carried by Words, Holds True

Learn it with your body. Do not be misled by logic. The world is full of lies. Reading a map and walking the road are as different as heaven and earth. Do not walk every road, and do not leave everything to knowledge. Use both, like the two wheels of a cart, to tell the true from the false.
